Justin, a local businessman, runs and owns Conyers Gunshop, Angling supplies, Home & Country, the oldest shop in Blandford. His family also farms in and around Okeford Fitzpaine nearby. Justin was looking for opportunities to develop a 16-acre field when Yordan came along with his plan to grow premium quality organic herbs and flowers.

Yordan, originally from Bulgaria, started his passion for growing as a gardener with herbs on a small 1-acre plot near Gillingham. Now with 16-acres to play with, his grand plans can be realised to develop a fully working herb and flower garden. In time to develop as a local attraction for the public to visit as a place of delightful

smells and colour. Yordan is very keen to get individuals/businesses onside by sponsoring rows of plants to enjoy the plants the whole year-round. A place of the tranquillity of your very own!

Dorset Herbs have planted 10 acres of different herbs, Marigold, Lavender, Camomile, Roses, Rose Hips, Yarrow, Lemon Balm, Curry Plant and Sage.

Some plants are in straight rows, whilst others have been planted in hexagons and spirals so that this can be seen from the air. Shortly, a massive depiction of the ancient Bulgar Calendar originating from the 2nd century BC will be created and planted (a bit like a 7 leafed clover) in 2020. These herbs are ideal for bees to feed on, and the two horizontal bee hives on site are what adds to the unique taste of Dorset Herb’s honey!

Our Company

Dorset Herbs and Essences was set up in 2017 as a partnership. Justin and Yordan were able to use their talents to create the template for growing herbs and flowers. The aim was to produce 100% natural organic certified oils and essences from old strains of the plants, to harness all the goodnes that is lost when designing new varieties!

It has taken 5 long years to establish the beds and be in a position to harvest the best. It also did not help when in 2020 and 2021 the brakes of Covid 19 were put on the economy effectively cancelling a year!
But we are back, and looking forward to serving you who have supported us since 2017. So a big thank you. This 2022 year we hope to bring you more .
